"No story is worth dying for"

I went on to study Communication Arts knowing that journalism is not my goal. I do not know what will happen in the future but I will most likely opt not to enter in any "serious" media job. And that includes, writing about politics, the government, religion, or anything else that's bound to be controversial and maybe even life-threatening. I also never want to go to places wherein war is ongoing. Those jobs are crossed out in my list. And I think one of the reasons is pretty obvious, it's just that some things are not worth risking everything for. How will I be able to watch my award-winning documentary film played on my burial? And what the h*** are my family supposed to do with a medal or those plaque of appreciation whatevs? Needless to say, whatever I would get out of dying for a story is never going to replace my life that was wasted because I want to "liberate" my countrymen. But some people are selfless and brave enough to do so, maybe they're just a little more driven or that they have their own battles and beliefs to fight for. Yet even they admit that nothing is ever worth dying for, not just some story. And hearing them utter those words made me even more convinced that broadcasting/journalism is so not my thing.
